| Marty brings her gift of interpretive illustration to a series of
collector plates commissioned by the Franklin
Mint. These geisha maidens, named for the flowers that grace each
plate, hydrangea, azalea, jasmine,
peony, wisteria, lotus and orchid, are filled with aesthetic
symbolism of 18th & 19th century Japanese
culture. Each Geisha's kimono is a wonderous and lavish design and
each plate is enhanced by intricate
border designs. The mysterious world of the geisha unfolds in tranquil
gardens, inhabited by exotic peacocks,
butterflies, and swallows, allowing one to enjoy the enticing
tradition of entertainers who were true to the name
geisha, 'person of the arts'. |
